Gamasutra has word of a recent British magazine circulation report that shows game magazine circulation down pretty much across the board. I’m not expert on the British magazine market, but I’d say any country with five distinct Xbox magazines is due for a bit of a shakeout. It’s also nice to see continued rising circulation for Edge, one of the only British game mags I pick up regularly, and always a quality read.
Because magazines are more expensive and slower to react to news than the Web, they’re going to have to differentiate themselves in big way to survive. But with Web sites showing an increased focus on intelligent features, I’m not sure how gaming magazines are going to compete.
